The Countdown Begins!

This past weekend was very hectic and busy but in the end rewarding and satisfying. As our trip quickly approaches we have found ourselves scurrying to get things accomplished so we can check them off our To Do List. Trying not to stress and be a nervous wreck is definitely a challenge but I keep in mind these two verses from the bible:

“My peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the world does. So don’t let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” -John 14:27

“Depend on the Lord in whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” -Proverbs 16:3

It never fails to find comforting words in the bible! I’m a realist and can’t help but way pros and cons on everything. So you can imagine that at times I can make myself crazy thinking of all the bad things that may happen on this trip but then I am reminded of the God I serve and the God that will always take care of me.

Anyways…

Saturday, Michael and I had a garage sale to attempt to sell most of our belongings. Why would we sell our belongings?? Well, the purpose of our trip is to spread God’s love and allow him to take us wherever that needs to happen so whatever may come, we don’t want to be tied down by worldly objects. We believe in “living simply so others may simply live”, hence the garage sale. A 30% chance of rain turned into some hail and rain on and off all day long. And did I mention it was freezing??? The end of May and we had hot chocolate with us because of how chilly it was! So the garage sale didn’t go as luxurious as planned but that’s okay! We still made a decent amount of money to put towards our travel funds and most of what we didn’t sell we ended up boxing up and donating. I forgot to take pictures of our sad garage sale! Dang It! But I did remember to take a few pictures of Sunday!

Sunday, Michael had a speaking engagement at a small church in Killbuck, Ohio called Union Grove Church of Christ.

Sunday was a gorgeous day and I must say for a small town only a hour and a half away the view was amazing. I guess sometimes it doesn’t take traveling across the world to find an awe inspiring view, all you need to do is look out your back door to find it. There was two houses on the church property and the house cats just roamed around the church. It was the funniest thing!
Union Grove Church of Christ had some of the friendliest people I’ve every met. They were so welcoming and warm! And they made Michael and I feel like family. Union Grove Church of Christ was the first stop Michael made on his bicycle trip in 2011 and they kindly invited him back to tell his complete story of how God changed his life during those 141 days. It was a great experience listening to Mike be able to share his testimony and I hope there are many more to come!
And one more picture from Sunday:
I’m a sucker for rustic barns!
1 Week and 4 Days left until we depart to our first destination: Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada!
Talk to ya soon!
